Is He enough?

Do you ever struggle with your situation in life? Do you ever have those moments when you wish you were elsewhere doing something else with your life? Or have you asked, if I just had this or if I could just do that? I know I can fill in the blanks and I imagine that you can to.

Have you ever asked, what it is you are implying when you obsess or ask these sorts of questions?

Read the words of Hebrews 13:5b –

be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

In this verse the writer of Hebrews speaks to our contentment in life. Actually he calls followers of Christ to be content. Now you must understand that he is writing to an audience that would have included the poorest of folks and many who had faced persecution. Many of them we could not relate to the type of life they had to live. Yet the author still calls them to contentment. Have you ever wondered why is it that someone who has a worse life situation than I, can be so content? Or why does that person with so many life hardships have so much more joy than I?

The reason is that they have answered the question, is He enough? They have answered it with a resounding, yes! This verse says that the reason we are to be content is because God will never leave us. Once we are His child, we are forever in his hands. This verse declares that if all we ever have is God that He is sufficient.

No matter what you are going through God is enough!

No matter how mundane or difficult your life is, if you are a child of God then He is at work in that situation and in the process of sanctifying you. He wants the best for you and He has promised to care for you.

When you start to struggle with contentment take all the energy you are using to worry or the time you are wasting to change your situation and point it to your Savior and being in fellowship with Him. In those moments turn to the Lord in prayer and spend time in the Word. Call a fellow believer that you are friends with and share your struggle. Ask them to pray with you.

I truly believe that each of us believes that God is enough! Now it is time to live that out on a day to day basis. Instead of struggling with your current situation start to enjoy those moments knowing this is exactly what God knows I need right now! In time you won’t have to ask, IS HE ENOUGH, because you will be living like it is true.

Is He enough? Of course He is!
