Getting a Jump on Success

Success is something that all of us want and if we are honest we want success in the easiest way possible. Success will never be found without hard work and that is why it is so satisfying.

Imagine one day you were walking down a city street and you came upon a beautiful house. It looked like it had been built in the 1800’s. The house was big and had a big front porch that wrapped around it. It also had a cupola on top which added to its glory. There was something sad about this house. The windows were all broken out and the front door was knocked down. One side of the front porch roof was falling and the paint was peeling off. You could not help but wonder what had happened to the house. Why did the owners not keep it in good shape? How could such a beautiful house be let go? What could have been done to keep it in great shape?

This house and the questions express the truth from Proverbs 24:30-34 that gives us a lesson on success. Verse 32 is of particular importance here.

Then I saw and considered it;
I looked and received instruction.
(Proverbs 24:32 ESV)
